The Brandy Alexander No. 2 is a variation of the original Alexander cocktail, which was created in 1919 by Harry MacElhone at Harry's New York Bar in Paris. It originally called for gin instead of brandy, but upon being further developed by Frank Fogarty at the St. Francis Hotel bar in San Francisco, it was renamed the Brandy Alexander No. 2.
