An old-fashioned Brandy Squirt is a sophisticated drink with a lot of history. It was originally made by two bartenders who worked at Shaker's Inn in Chicago in the early 1900s. They were trying to make an iced drink that the customers could enjoy even when it was hot outside. Bartender John Hall said that they "tried all sorts of crazy things" before they came up with the Brandy Squirt, which he named after the process of how the drink is made.
This cocktail is a mixture of brandy, water, sugar and orange twist which was originally served on ice. The bartender would mix these ingredients together and pour them into a small glass.
