The Calvados Sidecar cocktail is a delicious alcoholic drink that has its roots in the 1920s. It was created by Harry MacElhone, who is said to have invented the drink at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris. It contains three ingredients: cognac, orange liqueur and lemon juice. The first recipe called for just one part cognac and two parts of Grand Marnier, which was changed to equal parts of each ingredient since Grand Marnier became unavailable during World War II.

¾ ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
¾ ounce Grand Marnier or another orange liqueur
1½ ounces Calvados or apple brandy

Recipe
1. Chill a martini glass.
2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the lemon juice, Grand Marnier, and Calvados.
3. Add the ice and shake to chill.
5. Strain into the chilled martini glass.
