The Cotton Club Flip is a classic gin-based cocktail invented in 1934 at the prestigious nightclub of the same name in New York City. The club was famous for its live jazz performances and it became an iconic part of Harlem during this time, attracting famous celebrities like Al Capone, who would often visit when in town.
After Prohibition ended in 1933, owner Sherman Billingsley opened his Harlem nightclub again to much fanfare. One of his most popular drinks was The Cotton Club Flip which he created to celebrate when Billingsley’s reopened after Prohibition. Perfect for a single cocktail or a few drinks. Ingredients
2 ounce Vanilla-Infused Bourbon
½ ounce Honey-Currant Syrup
¾ ounce Fresh Lime Juice
1 Egg White
1 tsp Rhubarb bitters
Stick of cotton candy
Recipe
1. Shake first four ingredients without ice.
2. Add ice and shake again.
3. Strain into ice-filled old-fashioned glass.
4. Top with bitters.
5. Garnish with cotton candy.
6. Serve in an Old-Fashioned Glass.
