The Screwdriver, also known as the Mango Screwdriver, is a tropical cocktail made with vodka and orange juice. The drink was allegedly created in 1949 by John G. Martin of the J.G. Martin’s restaurant in Chicago. It is not clear how the cocktail's name came to be called "Screwdriver." Some think it refers to the act of "screwing" together two parts (the fruit and the liquor), while others say it refers to what happens after you drink one (the effect of alcohol on judgement).
It's made from fresh mango juice and vodka, so it's sweet enough to drink during the day while still being strong enough to knock your socks off. It's a two-ingredient cocktail that doesn't take any effort to make, so mix up a pitcher of these before heading out for a party! There are many variations of this drink - some people use vodka with other kinds of fruit juice like pineapple or grapefruit; some use orange juice with lemonade or limeade; some people will replace ice cubes for soda water.
