The Pumpkin Old Fashioned is a cocktail that was born from the pumpkin spice craze that has swept up America. While this drink can be found anywhere, it originated from the bar in the Ritz Carlton Chicago. It's rich, creamy and well-balanced, with the warm flavors of pumpkin pie, all pulled together with a hint of spice.
The history of the drink begins back in 2007 when a bartender at The Ritz-Carlton Chicago came up with a recipe for this unusual concoction. The head bartender at the time was named Michael Hales and he had devised two drinks with some help from his colleagues Adam Segerstrale and John Lappin; one of them had some pumpkin puree added to make it more seasonal. This drink makes for a perfect after dinner treat this holiday season.
