The Black Passion is a cocktail that has been around since the 1800s. It is a mix of lime, cognac, curacao, and maraschino flavored syrup. The Black Passion was originally based on the White Lady. It originated sometime in the 1800s in Europe. It was created in France by Harry MacElhone at Harry’s American Bar in Paris, who served it with an equal amount of gin instead of vodka. This is why it became known as the French 75 cocktail, although it’s not actually French at all.
It was then mixed at the American Bar in London by James Pemberton, who swapped out gin for champagne. The Black Passion consists of lime juice, blackwell rum, passion fruit puree and orange slice for garnish.
