High Color Buck

High Color Buck is a strawberry and lime infused rum cocktail with ginger, blackstrap rum float. It's a combination of all the colors in the rainbow, hence the name High Color Buck! The High Color Buck was created by bartender Jerry Thomas at the Occidental Hotel in San Francisco, California in 1876.

Spirit Used

Ingredients

1½ ounce rum
½ ounce Cruzan Black Strap Rum (float)
½ ounce ginger
¾ ounce lime juice
1 whole strawberry

Recipe

1. In a shaker tin, muddle one whole strawberry.
2. Add the remaining ingredients (except the Cruzan Black Strap) and shake with ice.
3. Fine strain into a collins glass with fresh ice and top with soda.
4. Float the remaining Cruzan Rum on the cocktail and garnish.
