The history of the Pumpkin Cinn City cocktail dates back to 1864 and it is the oldest drink in the United States that was ever mixed with pumpkin and cinnamon. The story about this drink started when a man named Jerry Thomas created it for a customer at his bar in New York. The customer wanted to celebrate Thanksgiving, but he needed something that would serve as a twist on the traditional wine punch.
He then contacted one of his friends, who owned a distillery, and asked him to send him some whiskey and cognac. He also added some sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
