In a world in which everything is now digitalised, SmartBuyGlasses is changing up the game in the eyewear industry with its exciting new app, the Lens Scanner.
With the Lens Scanner app, you can find out the prescription of your glasses using your smartphone. The app, developed by 6over 6, is set to revolutionise the way we buy glasses! Fewer visits to the optician can only be a good thing, right?
The app is the first one of its kind in Canada. The process is quick, easy and accurate – the Lens Scanner reads the prescription of your glasses with the same precision as a Lensmeter, a tool commonly spotted at the optician.
To save yourself the time and hassle of heading to an optician, you can simply download the app and follow the instructions. The app will scan your glasses to tell you the prescription. If you then want to browse through some glasses on the SmartBuyGlasses website, the prescription will be saved and added to anything you choose to purchase.
And that’s all there is to it! In just a matter of minutes, you’ll know your glasses prescription without having to call or visit an optician. SmartBuyGlasses is all about making the lives of their customers as easy as possible and is keen to provide them with only the best in the eyewear world.
“At SmartBuyGlasses, we are working hard to provide better eye care solutions to our visitors. We are proud to bring to Australian consumers this unique technological offering, democratising access to vision care to all people wherever they are,” says David Menning, co-CEO of SmartBuyGlasses..
6over6, the company that developed the Lens Scanner app, is an Israeli start-up making waves in the tech world. “6over6 has created some of the most advanced consumer vision technology available, enabling customers to perform the most accurate at-home vision tests using a mobile app or computer,” says CEO Dr Ofer Limon.
So, if you’re after an easy life, The Lens Scanner is here for you. Not only will it save you time, it will also save you money as you can get an accurate reading of your prescription from the comfort of your own home. However, it is still advised that you visit an optician on a regular basis as the app does not replace an eye exam. It is important to keep on top of your eye health!
Smart Buy Glasses’s Lens Scanner is compatible with both iOS and Android and available for free in both the App Store and Google Play Store. In order to make the most of the app, your current glasses prescription must be valid: i.e. typically obtained within a 24-month period from when you received the initial prescription at the optician. The app may not be used for multifocal or progressive lenses and for certain eye conditions, as the software cannot guarantee an accurate reading. A minimum age of 18 years is required for someone to use the app. For more details, please read the full terms and conditions.
In terms of the finer details, the app has been listed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). The TGA runs quality and safety controls on healthcare products and services in Australia to ensure that certain standards are met. This means that the device has been manufactured according to TGA standards prior to its introduction to the market.
6over6’s products are registered as Class 1 Exempt Medical Devices on the FDA Medical Device Listings, CE (EU) self-declared Class 1 and registered as Class 1 Medical Devices on the TGA Medical Device Listings. The Lens Scanner meets the industry guidelines for accuracy (ANSI-80.17).
